Station Lunda is dedicated to make research about and produce solutions for,
a Sustainable Development on planet Earth.

The population of Homo Sapiens is today, year 2016, more the 7 billion individuals. By this follows that there is about 1,2 hectare or 12000 m2 land available for each human.
Every human is consuming in average more than what can be produced at this available slot and in total this means that the consumption is many times higher than the assets. Mankind is thereby depleting its environment and the possibility for coming generations to live on this planet. The consequense of this approach is that mankind now is going towards a collaps…
No other animals or plants has been able to overdue its account and thereby tripped its own leg…
The background to this situation is that all animal and plants live in a state of direct coexistence with its environment. It is not possible for a hunter-gatherer to impoverish its environment. The situation would get poorer and poorer and be the end of the human living in this state long before the end of the environment… Lynx that lives on hares in Canada can not be more than the assets of hares. It is the access to food that determines the population of Lynxes. It is the population of hares that determine the population of Lynxes, not the opposite as is often refered to by hunters and others… The Lynx as a predator is only living on the excess of the regrowth… mostly weak and vulneralbe specimens that would have died anyway…
How has humans been able to brake this relationship with the laws of nature? The answer is that it has been possible due to the loans taken from the ecosystems and cheating on them by postboning the repayment… Most prominent is the use of fossil resources like crude oil, nature gas, uranium, charcoal etc… These resources are there because of a temporary overshoot of coal that was trapped in the earths crust millions of years ago and makes a likewise tempary source of energy for a very short historic period. The reproduction of fossil coal is close to none.
With the energy it was possible to make machines and technique. This technique has NOT increased the amount of resources on earth, it has increased the outtake of resources and that means that the resources are diminishing and/or are scattered. Today there is a deficit in almost every kind of resource on earth.
Sustainabilite is a term frequently used and little understood. Let us see what it means...
If something remains for a long time it can be considered sustainable. Conserved milk is a product with long lifetime, but it will not “hold” and be drinkable for ever…
The sustainability we talk about when we discuss lifestyle or production does not really have much in common with the conserved food. All milk will be sour an all humans will die as individuals at it is not a question of prolonging the lifespan of individuals or of a products useful lifespan. The sustainability we are talking about here is rather a question of conserving the PREREQUISITE for the same life as we are living to be repeated by the nextcoming generations. It is a question of REPEATABILITY. The conditions for such a repeatability is that the production and lifestyle is in collaboration with the system that it is a part of and depended on. The outtake from the system must be lower than the regrowth in the system. That means that it must be a balance in the ecosystem.
Today humans are exploiting the earths nature resources and of that follows that the outtake is much higher then the regrowth of assets, this creates a debt in the ecosystem. This debt much be paid. It is not as a debt in the speculation economy where you can take a loan and never pay it back. The national economy and speculation economy of today is an agreement between humans and has very little with the economy with resources and services, of this follows that a debt in the economic systems today is an imaginary debt. We can postbone or repeal the debt depending of our agreement… In the ecosystem it is the reality we are dealing with and here a debt is a physical reality that can not be conjured by a magic wand…
The English word Sustain means to keep or preserve. In a bigger evolutionary perspective everything is changing, dinosaurs got wings and become birds, apelike primates become humans, sealiving animals got up on land… and it is constantly a change in progress in the ecosystems. To keep an evolutionary state would be not only impossible, but also undesirable as everything is changing in the environment and it would be unsustainable. Therefore whe have constant changes in the ecosystems, it is a question of customizing an adjust to the circumstances to survive as a species…
There is two basic strategies to survive on earth. One is that an organism adjust to the environment and tries to make the best out of the situation. The other is to adapt ther reality to fit the needs of the organism. It is only humans that has in a restricted sense achieved to to the latter and it has only been hold up for a very short historic period. It started about 9000 years ago when humans left the hunter-gatherer stage and become farmers and began to manipulate nature. The problem with the latter method of strategy is that the need is changing with the process and we get a postitiv feedback loop of increased needs and demands on the services we want from the ecosystem. This can only lead to a collaps.

SUSTAINABLE GROWTH is a term we can hear quite frequently today. It was establish in the Brutland report from UN in 1987. It is a term of nonsense. It is like saying “Black light”. Light can not be black because the definition of black is the absense of light. The term has a total lack of meaning.
Growth is the mechanism in our economic systems that enforces the wheels of the squirrel by trying to compensate for the increased debt in the system. To prevent further increase in debt, the growth tries to compensate for it, but as it is the growth that has been the cause to the increase in debt it actually continues to increase. Of this follows the need of a continously increasing growth. This is a real impossibility. It is a phenomen that leads to collaps in a accelerated tempo. Againg we have the positiv feedback loop. It works as a mad thermostat that increases the temperature on a radiator when the temperature in the room increases. The system will consume itself. It is a stampeding process that leads to collaps and this is not a sustainable phenomenon. Our economic system today with production, turnover and growht as a holy trinity is a selfconsuming system. It is a concept of suicide.
To obtain sustainability there is a neccesity to cherish for the regrowth in the ecosystem. This means that an organism has to favour the regrowth to favour itself. It is an investment in the economics of reality. The higher degree or regrowth and the less outtake an organism is perfroming in the system, the more resilient the system will be and the higher chance it will be for the organism to survive. For sustainability it is therefore a question of being as effective and resource-saving as possible and to back up biodiversity and bioproduction as much as possible.
Maybe should we make the principle of sustainability more clear and call it Ecological Sustainability, because that is what it is all about.

Station Lunda is aimed for developing solutions of sustainability lifestyle for humans. A lifestyle that is not allowing a debt in the ecosystems to build up. The lifestyle of the community is dependent of the lifestyle of the individual and the some of its individuals. Station Lunda is demonstrating with examples and solutions how the individual can life a sustainable life without depleting the resources and possibly even benefit the ecosystem. The research at Station Lunda is including the fundamental needs and makings of a human, that means how we eat, what we eat, how we wash our bodys and clothes, how much energy and water we use etc. This means to a radical degree question the way we live today as this is provably depleting the system.

Except for this earthly based fundamental lifestyle on every day basis the humans also has developed an infrastructure that also increasingly has become globalized and it is neccessary to analyze and question this structure as well as constructing solutions for sustainability in the terms of public transports as well as building of cities, roads etc.
Station Lunda publish its result in books, reports, articles and also will discuss and inspire in a blog.
